Set on a generous suburban site in one of Melbourne’s most established eastern suburbs, the design responds to both context and climate through a composition of floating forms, curved masonry, and expansive glazing. The ground floor is anchored by a robust base of pale brickwork, while the upper level cantilevers dramatically, wrapped in crisp white render to create deep overhangs for passive shading.

Inside, the spatial experience is driven by light, texture, and volume. A sculptural spiral staircase forms the heart of the home, linking open-plan living spaces beneath double-height ceilings. Material contrasts — from the roughness of off-form concrete ceilings to the warmth of timber panelling and dark natural stone — create visual richness while maintaining a minimalist palette.

The kitchen, designed as a functional showpiece, features a monolithic island bench clad in dramatic veined stone, custom joinery in smoked timber tones, and full-height glazing that dissolves boundaries between indoors and the landscaped garden.
